The purpose of this blog is to keep family and friends updated with the most recent news on Matthew. It will also document his biggest trial to date and serve as a reminder of how many people love and support him, and how much the Lord loves him when he has beat this terrible disease.

An Email From Chad's Mission President

Brother and Sister Peters (and President Layton),

After planning with Elder Peters, we have asked our little army of missionaries to fast and pray with you this coming Saturday, September 15 until Sunday, September 16.  We talked with the district leaders personally and asked them to communicate Matthew’s situation in general terms to all missionaries in person or by telephone.  Then we followed up with the following text to all missionaries:

Here is the English Translation:

“My dear Sisters and Elders, Elder Peters’ brother, Matthew, who is 16, has been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer.  Elder Peters and his family have asked that we join with them in a fast this Saturday (September 15) until Sunday.  We will be fasting with the Peters’ entire family and ward, and I have promised them that we would fast and pray as a united mission and with great faith.  I know that our Heavenly Father will hear our prayers on Matthew’s behalf.  (Isaiah 58:6-11)  Thank you my faithful friends.”

We love Elder Peters, Matthew and the whole Peters family.  We are with you on this, and we look forward to our joint fast.

Sincerely,

President Deere
